Long time no blog...
Here's a portrait commission I finished recently of a customer's pet dog. The dog isn't really called 'Hero' (the owner asked me not to reveal his name) - I just thought he looked a bit heroic. It was an interesting photo to work from - taken from above, looking down, as so many of the snapshots are of pets I suppose. It means there's an interesting foreshortening effect, which keeps all the emphasis on the head, which I quite like.
Nice painting. I like the different perspective because like you say it focuses more on the head and in doing so you have captured a very faithful expression.
