Charcoal, Conté, graphite
This piece is based on one of my thumbnail dragon sketches from the other day, worked up into a more detailed drawing. I haven't used charcoal and Conté all that much, but they are wonderful materials to work with, so I plan on doing more drawings with them. They're especially great to use on toned paper rather than white. As well as using my fingers to smudge the drawing here and there, I also used a paper stump, which is handy little tool for more controlled blending of the charcoal or Conté in areas where fingers are just too big.
